Frozen Teeth

I bought some funny ice cube trays at a novelty store. They make mini dentures. Thought, since I work at a dental office, they would be a cute gag gift for the girls at work. Here they are on display as chompers on a plate. I tried coloring them with red food coloring to make the gums look pink. After I put them in a glass of water I was drinking pink liquid.

The braces come off!

, after 2 years, 1 month, and 23 days my daughter got her braces off. She was a little nervous and a few times it hurt when Amy, the assistant, removed the front brackets, but she was a happy camper afterwards. The staff in the office sang her a little song and gave her a balloon and a sack of candy and gum (stuff she wasn't supposed to eat while the braces were on).

The orthodontist assistant placed two fixed retainers on the insides of her front teeth. I didn't think she would do a good job with the removable kind.

We spent lunch at Chipotle and afterward dropped by my my dental office to clean her and her brother's teeth. The only glitch was when brushed her teeth after lunch and began to panic because her gums were bleeding! She thought her teeth were going to fall out. I explained about the puffy gums because she hadn't been brushing as good as she should have with the braces on.

Now she waits 4 weeks to go back to the orthodontist and get her official "after" photos taken.

Joseph at Sight and Sound Theatre

We saw the play Joseph at Sight and Sound Theatre in Pennsylvania. The theatre compound was very beautiful in a Disneyland kind of way. There was a fountain in the front of the building with a lion and a lamb lying down together.

Because it was their anniversary there was a small pre-show celebration in the lobby before we were seated in the auditorium.

The lobby was filled with interesting decorations and a gift shop. They also served food and allowed you to bring it into the auditorium during the show.

The seating in the auditorium allowed you to have a wonderful view no matter where you sat. Unfortunately we sat next to a class of 20 first graders who kept talking, fidgeting, crying, and generally just were annoying throughout the ENTIRE performance. Jesus loves the little children, but it's hard to love when you've spent $150 on a play. Fortunately we were able to get 4 free tickets to come back and see the Christmas show this winter to make up for it.

Next year it will be Jonah!

Amish County Day

The morning of our second day in Pennsylvania Dutch Country I took some photos of the quilts hanging in the hotel. Sundays are known for most things being closed, so we didn't have a lot of choices of things to do.

We decided to hit the outlet mall to start the day and I picked up these two purses for about $5 each from a shop called Ten Thousand Villages.

I also picked up some necklaces on clearance, and we bought some goldfish snacks.

We then hit the "links" at The Village Greens miniature golf. We hit 24 holes of putt-putt. My husband won the game, but I did get a hole-in-one on the last hole and earned us a free game. Since we couldn't use it again on our trip, we passed it off to a uniformed soldier we knew probably lived in the area.

We stopped off at an ice cream parlor in Strasburg and had a snack.

There was also a winery next door, so we stopped for a bit of wine tasting.

We saw buggies and carts pulled by horses.

And we ended the evening eating at the Plain and Fancy Farm restaurant.

Yum, buttered noodles!
