We are going to be remodeling our backyard this fall. We will be making a level planting bed in the back to replace the one that currently exists, a path alongside our house from the driveway to the backyard where there is just grass, creating a retaining wall patio below the planting bed with a fire pit, and fencing in the whole backyard with a steel fence.
Above is a picture of the planting bed at the time we purchased the house 4 1/2 years ago. It was separated by pea gravel which we have grown to loathe and surrounded by bricks. Our house is to the right in the photo, and to the left is a steep slope downward which we will be transforming into a paved patio with a fire pit in the center.
Above is pictured the concrete patio under our deck, and the door leads to the unfinished basement (future project). The blue on the left covers a pile of firewood, and you can see the hot tub which no longer works. We will be getting rid of this as well. Notice the lattice fence beyond the hot tub which shows no growth of plants. You will see in future pictures the wisteria plant that has taken over the lattice in the past 2 years.
Here is another view of the patio under the deck. To the left is a tool shed where we keep lawn and garden items.
